Research Interests: Ilan’s research interests are quite diverse. He is interested in the effects of genetic essentialism, the psychology of control, terror management theory, “coolness”, and cultural psychology.
About Ilan: Ilan came to UBC from a peaceful resort in the Middle East called Israel, where he lived most his life, except for extensive periods of time that he dedicated to travelling (South East Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America). Between these journeys he managed to complete a year in Law school, which he abandoned to follow his heart's call- Psychology, in which he received a degree at the University of Haifa and a master degree from the University of British Columbia.
While studying, Ilan kept himself busy working in various jobs, among them the Israeli psychometric test (SAT equivalent) preparation course instructor, teaching assistant, and research assistant.
Ilan prides himself as being North Israel ex Judo champion in the weight group of 32 Kg's (1983).
