Research interests

Developmental speech perception and production, psycholinguistics and languages' sound systems. My research investigates the mechanisms that underlie our ability to acquire language and the nature of language representations.


Current Projects

- Acquisition of phonotactic probabilities in developmental speech perception and production.

- Phonological and morphological interactions.

- Corpus analyses of ambient language input and distributions.

- Positional effects in developmental speech perception and production.

- Comparing the relative contributions of words and objects in early word-object associations (with Laurel Fais & Janet Werker)

- Role of production in recall (with Mike Page)

- Cross-linguistic analyses of neighbourhood density in lexical development (with Judit Gervain)

- Lexical development in children with typical language development and at risk for speech language delay (with Elise de Bree)

- Interactions between segmental and prosodic structure.

- Interactions between phonological and syntactic development (with Paula Fikkert and Diane Ohala)

- Level of abstraction in phonemic representations (with Suzanne Curtin, Laurel Fais & Janet Werker)
